Plein Air: Christchurch Quay

It is always a joy to paint at Christchurch Quay. In the middle of summer, there are boats bobbing on sparkling water, set against the foliage and buildings across the river - all under a brilliant blue sky with just enough cloud to provide interest. Mindful of all the advice given at Stuart Beckett’s demo on depicting boats and water, we observed the shapes, the darks and lights and the reflection colours.

We were also entertained by friendly families strolling along the water’s edge and the distant squeals and shrieks of happy children (yes, they have fixed the water park!).

An inspirational situation that produced some super work.
